the hunched figure seated with arms akimbo, the long expressive hands resting on his lap, loosely draped in a flowing robe applied with an icy-blue glaze, the edges of the robe decorated with clusters of leaves, double-gourds tied over his left shoulder, the emaciated body and expressive face unglazed and white, his curled lips open as if in mid-sentence, with bushy eyebrows and finely incised hair. height 8 1/2 in., 21.6 cm.
