An Eboshi Nari Kabuto. Edo period (17th-18th Century)
The black-lacquered helmet of eboshi (court cap) shape, a worn gilt-copper forecrest fixture pierced with leaves, the peak clad with stencilled leather, shikoro of five plate-lame laced in dark blue, leather-clad fukigaeshi with hebi-no-me (snake's eye, or tsuru-maki, bowstring reel) crests. Estimate $4,000 - $6,000
