Pablo Picasso: Le Corsage Rayé, 1949

Print. height - 20.6 in, width - 15.75 in. signed, Signed in pencil and printed by Mourlot. Edition: Ed. 300. Estimate: from $3,500 to $5,500

Note: This print, hand-signed by Picassos lithographer, Fernand Murlot, is gestural in nature. The work demonstrates the artist's lively use of line and vibrant color, sense of spontaneity, and raw energy of its execution. Picasso's production in the period between the Second World War and his death was marked by independence. In his diverse pursuits, he moved away from the contemporary avant garde and, particularly in later years as his contemporaries passed away, his work became autonomous, self-generating and self-fulfilling, showing the sustained power of his creativity.
