A turquoise-glazed 'lantern' vase, Qing dynasty, 18th century
of tall ovoid form, rising from the straight foot to the broad high shoulders flanked on each side by two lion-mask handles suspending fixed rings, all below a short waisted neck, covered overall with a brilliant turquoise-blue glaze suffused with a fine network of crackles and pooling in the recesses to a deeper blue tone, Japanese wood box (2). 12 in., 30.5 cm.
