An imperial lapis lazuli inscribed mountain carving. Qianlong period (1736-95)
The irregular boulder pierced and well carved in deep relief to depict a mountain with craggy surfaces, detailed with a pavilion beside pine trees beneath a gilt-highlighted short inscribed poem at the top, the reverse with a stepped path leading to the pavilion, the layered angular rockwork well rendered. 5 7/8 in. (14.9 cm.) wide, carved wood stand. Estimate £15,000 - £20,000 - Price realised : £18,750
