NOTE: Once attributed to Cozzi, this class can be safely attributed to Doccia by the use of the whitened tin glaze to cover the typically grey glaze. The archives of the Doccia factory, only comparatively recently researched and published, show many entries for such vases, though actual examples are now rarely found. The painting of these pieces is of very high ambition and quality, and it is remarkable that a hand has yet to be identified. One candidate might be the painter of a covered bowl in the V & A collection, with scenes from Ovid's Metamorphoses, which is signed `F.1782' and `G.B.F. 1783', and attributed to Giovanni Battista Fanciullaci who was employed by the factory as a `miniaturist'.
