Youssef Nabil est né en 1972 au Caire. Il vit et travaille à Paris et New York.

"Portraits, vêtements, objets et surtout autoportraits sont ce qui compose, telles les tesselles d'une mosaïque, une sorte de journal intime de ce jeune artiste. Youssef Nabil semble absorbé dans une tentative d'appropriation de la vie et de son ‘lapsus', la mort, au travers de la photographie, coloriant ensuite à la main ses images noir et blanc. Son inspiration est issue des photographies de scène des flims égyptien de son enfance".

Frédéric Mitterrand l' avait exposé à la Villa Médicis en avril 2009. Il fait actuellement partie d'une exposition de groupe dans le cadre de la Biennale de Venise Arsenale Novissimo 'Unconditional Love' (Tese di San Cristoforo, Tesa 89, 30124 Venezia, Italie - Tél: +39-41.2728397) jusqu'au 5 novembre 2009.
