NOTE: Louis-Robert Carrier Belleuse (1848-1913) studied sculpture under his father Albert-Ernst Carrier-Belleuse (1824-87) and painting at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He first exhibited at the 1870 Salon and in 1889 accepted an appointment as artistic director of the ceramics manufactory Hautin Boulenger & Co. at Choisy-le Roi. There he continued in the tradition of his father designing architectural pieces and mythological-subject wares.
