An Aubergine Lion Mask Handled bombé bronze form censer. 明代 Ming Dynasty, 崇禎 Chongzhen Period (1628-1644). photo Vermeer & Griggs the compressed bulbous body sits atop a splayed foot, rising to a slightly everted flat rim with opposing male lion-headed handles mounted on the shoulder covered entirely in a deep eggplant purple toned glaze.
