An Important Imperial Nian Rebellion Battle Painting 'Siege Of Pingyu', from a set of eighteen paintings commemorating the campaign of the victories over the Nian, 1853-1868, by Qingkuang et al. Qing Dynasty, Guangxu Period, ink and colour on paper, framed and under glass, 122 x 54 in., 309.9 x 137.1 cm. Est. $800,000 - 1,200,000.

Each of rectangular form, with a protruding top with an 'ice plate' edge, above two panel doors opening to two drawers and a shelf, the apron carved on three sides with scrolling foliage in relief, brass rectangular lockplate, hinges and pulls. Height 64 inches, width 38 1/4 inches, depth 20 1/4 inches. Estimate $120,000-180,000

The shouldered form with a short neck and flat rim, painted with the eight horses of Wu Mang in a grassy landscape. Height 6 inches. Average surface scatches to shoulder of vase. 1/3 inch repair of exterior foot rim. Potting inconsistancy on rim under glaze. Small glaze chip to shoulder, approximately 1/8 inch. Interior with scattered pinholes. Estimate $1,500-2,500

The pear-shaped body painted in Ming style with bamboo and banana palms in a terraced garden setting, above a lappet band at the foot and below a ruyi squared scroll and foliate borders at the neck and foliate sprays below the rim. Height 15 inches. Vase was drilled as a lamp, hole has been filled in. Horizontal old glaze crack on exterior of foot rim approximately 4 inches long. Small burst bubble on rim.
