A rare large charger decorated with a Western mythological scene of Dionysus, or Bacchus, the Greco-Roman god of wine and merriment. Because of these connotations, he was a favoured symbol for the dining room. Further European influence can be seen in the gadrooned rim, which was copied from silver models.
