Victoria & Albert Museum Acquires Spectacular Ottoman Tankard with Help from the Art Fund
The tankard is a spectacular example of how the Ottoman court borrowed forms from everyday life and turned them into luxury items.
LONDON.- A rare jade tankard inlaid with gold and studded with rubies and emeralds has been acquired by the V&A. The tankard was originally made for an Ottoman sultan in the late 16th century, in the imperial capital of Istanbul. Un sceau impérial chinois adjugé pour 17 millions de dollars aux enchères en France
Un sceau chinois impérial en jade, utilisé par l'empereur Qianlong (1736-1795), a été vendu pour 12,4 millions d'euros (17,45 millions de dollars) samedi lors d'une vente aux enchères organisée dans le sud-ouest de la France, ce qui est désormais l'adjudication la plus chère jamais réalisée pour un sceau.
