A very rare large foliate bowl rendered in the form of a mallow flower supported on a high ring foot. The rounded sides rising to a wide flaring rim, the body grooved to form six sections indented on the rim creating a foliate edge and covered in a camellia leaf green finely crackled glaze. The following three rhinoceros horn carvings bear either the signature or seal of two of the most revered artists working in this medium: You Kan (zi Zhi Sheng) and You Yutong (zi Yuyuan).You Kan is amongst the most famous rhinoceros horn carvers, with more works attributed to his hand than any other carver. the sides rising gracefully to a foliate mouth rim. The bodies covered in a deep qiepi zi, aubergine-eggplant skin purple, glaze derived from manganese varying in tone where the glaze runs down the body.
