A rare pair of Bronze Mask-Form Horse Fittings, Western Zhou Dynasty, circa 1100-771 BC Made to be worn between the ears of a horse, each cast as a monster mask (taotie) with large nose, curved jaws, and bulbous eyes flanked by small ears and set below striated brows and horns with upswept tips, the reverse concave, with mottled green patina and encrustation. 9½ in.
