Mounted with a chased and engraved gold bridle and saddle and diamond chips in the eyes, mounted with an agate cover, the mounts twice marked with 'Eagle's head' guarantee mark (petite garantie) for Paris, after 1838, 5.3cm high, 5.2cm across. The cover and base moulded in high-relief with a shell heightened in coloured enamels in a Kakiemon palette, the sides painted with Oriental flower sprigs, the inside cover painted with a chinoiserie scene depicting a figure standing by a fence, flanked by flowering bushes, the inside with a single flower sprig, 8cm across (slight rubbing to enamels on base). Estimate: £3,000 - 5,000, € 3,400 - 5,700, US$ 4,900 - 8,200
