Lors de l’exposition Universelle de Paris en 1889, Tiffany présenta 24 broches figurant chacune de manière très réaliste une variété différente d’orchidée. Ces créations de George Paulding Farnham connurent un succès phénoménal et lui valurent plusieurs médailles. Cet exemplaire-ci, qui représente une « Odontoglossum Maculatum », fait partie des rares qui furent produites juste après l’Exposition Universelle de Paris en 1889.
