An aubergine glazed flanged double gourd vase, 明代 Ming Dynasty, 萬曆 Wanli Period (1573-1619). photo Vermeer & Griggs the lower bulb of campana shape and the upper bulb shouldered below the short neck, each section encircled by four vertical notched flanges, covered overall in a rich purple qiepi zi  (aubergine-eggplant skin purple) glaze pooling around the base which is unglazed and with a shallow rounded foot rim.
