An Anglo-Indian solid ivory armchair. Murshidabad, circa 1830 front left paw foot probably replaced, losses, repairs. height 87.6 cm. Estimate 20,000—30,000 USD. Lot Sold 43,750 USD NOTE: The present chair was probably made in Murshidabad, in eastern India in the second quarter of the 19th century. The furniture makers in this area of India typically made furniture out of solid or veneerd ivory to English designs by the late 18th century.
