A fine pair of aubergine hexagonally shaped baluster vases, 清代 Qing Dynasty, 康熙 Kangxi Period (1662-1722). photo Vermeer & Griggs the sides rising gracefully to a foliate mouth rim. The bodies covered in a deep qiepi zi, aubergine-eggplant skin purple, glaze derived from manganese varying in tone where the glaze runs down the body. The bases are unglazed revealing an incredibly smooth and slick biscuit surface. Height:  17 1/2" (44.5cm). Condition:  Excellent, no chips, cracks or restorations.... [Lire la suite]

An extremely rare pair of massive bronze form yen yen vases covered in a rich deep qiepi zi (aubergine-eggplant skin purple) glaze. 清代 Qing Dynasty, 康熙 Kangxi Period (1662-1722). photo Vermeer & Griggs The central section of the vase flares outward from the tall waisted splayed foot to slightly inclined rounded shoulder and is carved in relief with a ferocious dragon amidst flames in pursuit of a flaming pearl bracketed by boss applied borders.  On the tall splayed foot are carved pendant ruyi form foliate... An aubergine glazed flanged double gourd vase, 明代 Ming Dynasty, 萬曆 Wanli Period (1573-1619). photo Vermeer & Griggs the lower bulb of campana shape and the upper bulb shouldered below the short neck, each section encircled by four vertical notched flanges, covered overall in a rich purple qiepi zi  (aubergine-eggplant skin purple) glaze pooling around the base which is unglazed and with a shallow rounded foot rim. Height:  6 1/4" (16 cm). Condition: Firing hair crack, three flanges with minor damage.... [Lire la suite]
