The sale was led by A Rare Imperial Numbered ‘Jun’ Narcissus Bowl, Early Ming Dynasty which sold for $2,210,500, many multiples of the $200/300,000 estimate. Qingbai Foliate Shallow Peony Dish. Northern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). Courtesy Vermeer & Griggs A fine Song Qingbai shallow foliated dish, the rim shaped to form six petals, raised on a short ring foot decorated with carved and combed design of a peony flower covered in a pale blue green colored glaze. The base is unglazed and the biscuit is burned in the firing. The dish likely made at the Jingdezheng kilns in Jiangxi province. Diameter:  6" (15.2cm). Condition: Excellent, minor kiln grit... A rare 'qingbai' 'peony' handled cup. Song dynasty. photo Sotheby's of shallow rounded form, applied at one side with a circular loop handle issuing from a flat everted flange, the interior intricately carved with a peony flower borne on leafy stems, covered all over in a delicate shadowy-blue glaze, the unglazed rim revealing the white body burnt russet-orange in the firing - 17.8 cm., 7 in.
