Each molded with a canted rim and painted with a central medallion of a scholar standing in a garden surrounded by lotus petal reserves filled with alternating figures in a landscape and flowering stalks (glazes degraded, marine adhesions). 12 1/8 and 12 1/2in (30.7 and 32cm) diameters - Estimate: $2,000 - 3,000

Provenance: the 'San Diego' Cargo, excavated off the coast of the Philippines in 1991, named after the Spanish galleon attacked and sunk by the by the Dutch ship 'Mauritius' in 1600.
