An Iznik polychrome dish, Turkey, circa 1570-1580
of shallow rounded form, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, viridian green and relief red, outlined in black and blue, with a central design of intersecting feathery saz leaves surrounded by sprays of hyacinth flowers, rosettes and foliate motifs throughout, the rim with a pattern of alternating triangles, the reverse with alternating paired tulips and rosettes. 32.3cm. diam. Estimate 15,000—25,000 GBP
