Tai Ping Tong Bao found in Java, Indonesia

Small copper coin bear Chinese Song legends Tai Ping Tong Bao

An interesting coin found in Java, Indonesia. The coin coincidence with Chinese Song Dynasty coin Tai Ping Tong Bao, but with lighter weight and smaller size. 22.5mm, 2.17g. 5 USD @ dong_hua_zhai 

There are some debate on the origin of these small Java Cash. I was long believed they were produced in ancient Vietnam. After reading the article by Mr. Griffith, I was convienced that they were in fact produced  in Quanzhou, Fujian province of China during mid era of Ming Dynasty (AD 1368 - 1644) for export to southeast Asia.
