A Chinese famille rose pink ground five-piece garniture. Qianlong (1736-1795)

Comprising three baluster jars and covers and a pair of beaker vases, painted to each side with a lobed panels enclosing flowering peony, reserved on a pink ground enriched with formal lotus scrolls, one cover with some retouching, one beaker with minor cracks. the jars 29.5 cm. high, the beakers 23.5 cm. high (5) Est. €3,000 - €5,000  - Price Realized €8,125

Comprising a rectangular pen box and hinged cover decorated with a mountainous landscape, with attached three-sectioned tray with fixed candleholder flanked by a square sander and inkwell, painted and gilt with interior scens, birds in gardens, vases and river scenes, candleholder reglued. 20.9 cm. long. Of rectangular tapering section, each side delicately painted with roundels and shaped panels depicting various figures scenes, all reserved on a moulded keyfret-pattern ground above a row of shou characters, the shoulders with four bats below a keyfret ground band enriched with landscape cartouches around the neck. 49.7 cm. high. A Chinese Export famille rose 'Cape Town' plate. Circa 1770

Decorated in coloured enamels with a view of Cape Town from the bay with various Dutch ships and rowing boats in the foreground, in the horizon Table Mountain flanked by Lion's Head and Signal Hill, within a trellis border and four sprays of pink flowers, small glaze cracks, slight rubbing. 22.5 cm. diam. Notes: From the 17th century onwards Table Bay became an important stop for ships travelling between Europe and China as it was half way. Several versions have been made of this view. A similar plate from the Princesshof Museum, Leeuwarden (Netherlands) is published in F. & N. Hervouët, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Decor Occidental, Paris 1986, p. 39 no.: 2.9. And one was sold at Sotheby's Amsterdam, 5 November 2003, lot 173

Comprising three soup plates, two plates and a dinner plate decorated with a peacock and a peahen perched on rockwork among large flowering peony blossoms, within a spearhead-pattern band at the well, the rim painted with a pink diaper-pattern and flower-sprays, 23.2-26 cm. diam.; and a soup-plate painted en suite with a border decorated with flower-sprays, 22.5 cm. diam., minor damages (7). Enamelled and gilt with a finely dressed lady with elaborate hairdress seated in a horseshoe back armchair behind a table with marble top, surrounded by various vessels on the table and floor, the reverse with a Taoist symbol in underglaze blue, fine hairlines and very small rim restoration. 16.4 cm. diam. Est. €1,000 - €1,500  - Price Realized €1,125
