A gem-set and enamelled turban ornament (Sarpech), India, probably Deccan, 19th century
the gold openwork body set with foiled white stones possibly diamonds and an a central octagonal emerald, with a central floral medallion flanked by hinged petal florets and surmounted by a hinged curling jigha, four drilled pendant emeralds, the reverse with gold floral and foliate motifs reserved against a green enamelled ground, suspension cord. 12 by 10.5cm. Estimate 8,000—10,000 GBP
